Our specialist solicitors offer a 100% Compensation - No Win No Fee service, meaning that you receive 100% of your compensation and pay absolutely nothing to claim.

Injuries resulting from falling objects account for many accidents at work. Workers are often at risk of injury from heavy objects falling from above which have the potential to cause serious injury. Falling object accidents can happen due to; a lack of communication when workers aren't warned of the work going on overhead, unsecured loads, or when hard hats are not worn.

Construction sites, warehouses and factories have a higher risk of this type of accident. Situations where objects fall and injure an employee could include:-

  • A cave–in or collapse of materials such as earth, rock, a building or wall
  • Being struck by a loose piece of machinery
  • Objects falling from scaffolding platforms
  • Objects falling from a moving load overhead
  • Dropped tools
  • Loose objects that get knocked from stacked materials
  • Where workers are not provided with adequate personal safety equipment
  • Where there are inadequate signage or barriers to warn employees

Way to prevent falling objects

  • Store equipment safely so if it moves it shall not fall
  • Use close boarded platforms or toes board so it is more difficult to kick anything on the platform over the edge
  • Use covered platforms or walkways
  • Attach tools to the area at height by safety lines so if they are dropped they will not reach the level of people working below
  • Ensure only necessary equipment is taken to work areas at height

You can make a claim if...

  • The accident happened less than 3 years ago*
  • The accident was not your fault
  • You have suffered injury, losses or expenses

* There are some exceptions to the 3 year rule. In the case of a child, a claim can be made any time up until the child reaches the age of 21. There are very few other exceptions.
