The Health & Safety Executive's job is to protect people against risks to health or safety arising from work activities. It is their mission to prevent death, injury and ill health in Great Britain’s workplaces. They do this by research, information and advice, promoting training, new or revised regulations and codes of practice, inspection, investigation and enforcement.

RIDDOR - Reporting of Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations

The 1995 RIDDOR Act places a legal duty on employers, self-employed people and people in control of premises to report work-related deaths, major injuries or over-three-day injuries, work related diseases, and dangerous occurrences (near miss accidents).
